How to use authenticated proxy

Authenticated proxy is a technique that allows someone to access from anywhere the web as if (s)he were at ISR (i.e., using an IP from ISR). It is mostly useful for having access to online publications available under a IST subscription (e.g., science direct, springer, etc).

To have access to the authenticated proxy via ISR, send me an email specifying the desired username (preferably the same as your email/unix account at ISR) and a password (preferably different from your email/unix one).

The configuration details are:

  • hostname: proxy.isr.ist.utl.pt
  • port: 3128
  • username+password: (as requested)
